New Jersey residents will be able to put a notation on their driver’s license to indicate they have autism. It’s part of an effort to help ease any interactions they have with law enforcement.

REED’s Chief Clinical Officer Dr. David Wilson, spoke to Pix11 regarding this upcoming change. “I think it’ll go a long way in bridging the communication gaps between law enforcement and autistic individuals… I think by seeing that notation, it’s a little prompt for them that this person may not respond as a neurotypical person might.”
